Frequently Asked Questions

Mother and her children

What is Lil' Epics?

Lil' Epics ("Little Epics") is a website that creates children's stories at the click of a button.

Every story you create is unique and original, even if you choose the same adventure type over and over! You also get to customize your stories by providing the names and ages of the characters (which could be real or made up), but also by answering several questions specific to each adventure.

What if I can't think up an answer to a story's questions?

We give sample answers for every questions, so you can always choose one of those.

What age group is Lil' Epics for?

Lil' Epics stories are great for all kids who enjoy being read to, or love to read themselves.

Kids under 6 (or who are still learning to read) will enjoy having an adult read to them, as well as helping to answer the story questions.

Kids 7 to about 9 will be able to read the stories themselves, but might still need a little help with some words here and there.

Older kids (especially those who are good at reading and already reading chapter books) will easily be able to read Lil' Epics stories on their own.

By creating and reading a few stories with your kids while on the free trial, you'll quickly figure out how best they can use the site.

Are Lil' Epics stories appropriate for my kids to read?

Yes, we strongly believe so.

First, our stories are passed through a content filter before being shown to you. This filter checks for adult situations, violence, bad language, etc. We do need to disclaim that this filter isn't perfect, but, after generating hundreds of stories, we've never encountered anything that could be described as "inappropriate" for kids. Nothing has ever come close.

Some stories may involve the characters becoming lost in the woods, losing sports matches, etc, but there's nothing more "scary" or "disappointing" than is found in the average cartoon. And, in all stories, the endings are always kept positive and up-beat.

In all of these things, every parent has their own standards of suitability; some parents don't like any violence in their kids' media, so they (for example) should stay away from the Superheroes story type. That said, if you first create several stories while on the free trial before showing them to your children, you'll very quickly get a feel for the type of content we create.

Can I try Lil' Epics for free?

Yes! We offer a free 7-day trial during which you can create up to ten stories! Get started

How do I create stories? Do I have to pay after the trial?

Yes. We offer monthly subscriptions which provide a number of "story credits"; enough for one or two stories per night (depending on the plan) - but you can create your stories as frequently as you like. See all plans One credit will create one story, and you can see your remaining credits on the 'My Stories' page once you log in.

Can I only create one story per day?

No. You can create new stories as often as you like! We give you enough credits in each subscription plan to be able to create at least one story every night of the month, but you're free to create your stories whenever you wish! (This might be because it's a shorter month and there are extra credits, or maybe you skipped a day.)

What happens to unused story credits?

Unused credits expire at the end of the billing period and do not roll over from month to month. If your subscription ends, unused credits will expire.

Can I buy more story credits if I run out?

Yes! We offer 'booster' packs, which you can buy as often as you like. That way you're always able to tell new stories. See all plans

Can I sell or otherwise publish the stories I create with Lil' Epics?

We're more than happy if you want to post part or all of a story on social media, but you cannot sell or otherwise monetise the content you create using Lil' Epics.

We give you the ability to save and print off your stories, and encourage all of these things for personal use! We'd love for you and your family to enjoy your stories over and over gain. But this answer is addressing things such as using our service to create content that you'll re-sell on, say, Amazon, which we do not allow.
